Summary: Sixth-grader and self-proclaimed genius Nate Wright faces his all-time enemy, Gina, when they are paired to piece of work on a research paper together and she also gets a position on his intramural squad.Fun, quick read that integrates traditional text and comics within the book. Kind of a mix of a graphic novel and a regular book. I liked the commencement book so I wanted to read the next one in the series. I call up kids would really like it, especially boys. Nate is confident virtually his comics and his ability to captain his fleeceball team in the big school tournament. Not agape to say what is on his mind, Nate is often in problem with the teachers, the chief, and the school keen. Things are going well until he is assigned to work on a Ben Franklin Project with the person he hates most in this world, Gina (the instructor's pet) AND she is picked to exist on his fleeceball team.
Funny parts I enjoyed: Nate creates some funny and original comic strips about what he learns about Ben Franklin. Nate selects the perfect proper name for his fleeceball team, Psycho Dogs, but when he doesn't tell the coach in time, Gina names the team the Kuddle Kittens.

I received an Advance Reader's Copy of Big Nate Strikes Again by Lincoln Pierce. I did not receive any compensation for reviewing this volume.Kids who love Greg Hefley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid are going to dearest Nate Wright. Parents will probably like Nate amend.
Based on the comic strip "Large Nate" this series details the trials and tribulations of 6th grader Nate Wright. Nate finally has a chance to win the coveted SPOFFY Trophy (Sports Played Merely For Fun). He's been selected every bit a squad captain for fleeceball – an indoor version of baseball. But nothing e'er goes smoothly. Kept later school by a teacher, Nate is unable to brand it to the meeting to pick his squad. He lucks out and his best friends Teddy and Francis are on the team, but so is his archenemy – A+ know it all Gina! Not only does he have to put up with Gina on his fleeceball team, he'due south paired with her on a social studies projection. Can things get whatever worse or more hilarious?
The humour in this book is definitively age appropriate. As an elementary librarian I spend a skilful bargain of time effectually young children. The sense of humour is right on target, only it's not and so obnoxious (every bit some kid similar humor – Helm Underpants for example – can exist) that adults will not enjoy it too. I love Jeff Kinney and his Diary of a Wimpy Kid serial. But lets be honest, I think I similar Nate meliorate. (Don't worry I'll still anxiously wait whatever new Wimpy Kid books.) Nate is one of those likeable characters. Always up to something, but then charming you tin't assist but like him. If you work in a school, y'all know what I'grand talking about.
As I mentioned in the showtime, I received an Avant-garde Readers' Copy of this book. I liked information technology so much that non only am I going to recommend it to my students, I've already ordered a hard encompass copy of this and the first book in the serial for my library at home.
Recommended for 3rd grade and up. (The AR reading level is 3.0 and even though Nate is a 6th grader, based on my feel I'thou pretty sure 3rd class and older volition savor this book.)

Mom's Review: Honestly didn't even demand to bother reading this since Jake told me the whole story when he was writing upwards his review. Must remind him about spoilers. But I read it anyway and I concur pretty much with Jake's opinion on this one. It isn't equally expert as the starting time book, merely nonetheless definitely worth the cost. Nate is a fun character and I really like the friendship between him and his ii buddies. It is very realistic the way they diss each other. Trust me, I take watched Jake with his buddies Brian and Matthew and they beloved the dissing. Like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, this is an awesome series for reluctant readers. There is a good mix betwixt illustrations and writing to go on fifty-fifty the most reluctant reader interested. I really recommend these be function of all schoolhouse and public libraries. Hopefully they will get the same attention as the Wimpy Kid books. BTW, there is a Librarian in this and really could yous non have made her a little less stereotypical -- I know picky, picky.
Mom'south Rating: 9/x
We received this from the HarperCollins booth at the OLA and wasn't required to review it, we only really liked them

In my stance, this book exceeds its predecessor on well-nigh levels. When at its best, the sense of humour is fully on par with that of Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid serial, and the storyline shows improved depth and creativity when compared to Lincoln Pierce's outset novel-in-cartoons about Big Nate.Nate Wright faces ii large upcoming events at the aforementioned fourth dimension as the book gets under mode. The first is the handing out of a major project in the social studies class of the intimidating Mrs. Godfrey, Nate's least-favorite teacher. The project calls for two-person collaboration, and Nate is randomly matched for the assignment with his archenemy Gina, whose mostly obsequious attitude toward scholastic accomplishment and teacher relations gets on Nate'southward nerves to an extent matched by few other students. Now he has to find a way to work peaceably with Gina in coming up with a quality social studies project, or he'll be in danger of failing the class.
The 2d big upcoming outcome every bit the book begins is the offset of intramural sports flavor. Nate has been selected as captain of the Fleeceball (it's an indoor version of baseball game) team, and he's eagerly gunning to win the coveted SPOFFY trophy for the first fourth dimension. His luck with intramural sports hasn't always been great in the past, but this yr he'due south entered in a sport at which he really excels, and he knows that his best opportunity to cop the accolade has finally arrived. There are only three bug: Nate's able-bodied nemesis, Randy Betancourt, has been named captain of the squad that poses the most serious threat to Nate's championship, Gina (!) has been assigned as a player on Nate'due south side, and a mixup with the borderline for choosing team names has led to Nate'south team being named the "Kuddle Kittens"...which was, of course, Gina's idea.
The social studies project that Nate and Gina are collaborating on is to be a written report well-nigh the life of Benjamin Franklin. Normally, Gina is a consequent A+ student and Nate barely gets passing grades because he doesn't care equally much about excelling in academics, merely when Nate begins to read about Benjamin Franklin, he finds something of a kindred spirit in the American founding father. History takes on a deeper sense of real life, and Nate begins to think that peradventure the project won't be a drag after all.
The Fleeceball league title and finished social studies project come together in unexpected ways, creating some surprising heroes as the stories achieve their common conclusions. I think that Nate has really learned something by the end of this book, and what he learns isn't at all obvious or heavy-handed. Lincoln Pierce is a good writer, and Big Nate Strikes Again is a fine example of his overall creative ability.
Above all else, this book is ingeniously comical. I laughed as hard as I had while reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, and I can't say that very oftentimes. Big Nate Strikes Again was a slap-up deal of fun to read, and if Lincoln Pierce tin can go along upwardly this level of humor in future books, and so I tin't wait to become my hands on them and meet what more Nate has in shop for us. I would recommend Big Nate Strikes Again for anyone who enjoys the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and appreciates their distinctive brand of humor, or for anyone who, as in my instance, absolutely loves the Big Nate comic strip and tin can't get enough of Nate Wright'southward adventures.

This book was very enjoyable even though information technology had its downsides I had a keen fourth dimension reading it. I gave this book three stars considering it was funny but information technology wasn't the most interesting book. I recommend this book for people who like comedy and sense of humor.

Reading Fourth dimension: Took me about an hr.
In this book so far, it has been very funny and relatable. This book is funny considering of how he compares things, and how he describes people. He is relatable because because he loves to play sports and hates homework. I predict that he volition win the Championship with his team against Randy Betancourt, and his project volition Gina volition go practiced. I don't think that him and Gina are going to stop arguing and hating each other. SPOILER ALERT

I gave this book 3 stars because I thought it was another keen Big Nate book. Nate must face up the harsh news of Gina, Nate's rival and the grade pet, joining his school "fleeceball" team, which is pretty much like baseball only the rules are a scrap different. This was a good one, merely every bit good as the first. Funny storyline, good characters- the first volume made me read the second. I idea this was cracking, and this is a expert book for all ages.

Problems why it deceit be called that:-
1)He is always late cause he gets in trouble
2)Gina is in his team
Just considering of these two problems
It is called the "The Kuddle Kittens" aka the worst fleece ball name.....
The book is then hilarious way better than the Wimpy kid series for certain
Nates got the worst luck
ane)Teddy and Francis are in a squad
two)Jenny and Aurthur are in a team
